1:22PM. I have reached Canal Street on the other side of which begins lower Manhattan. The street was set as the official police "DO NOT CROSS" line. Canal Street is the first wide road North of lower Manhattan, and it was used by many emergency vehicles as an access route to the Holland Tunnel and through it to New Jersey.
