To see this horrible tragedy again gives me the chills. You're
superb pictures and comentary allowed me to show my children where their Dad was
working that day, driving a delivery truck. It brings home the mindset that 'You
should love one another everyday...you never know when that other person
won't be there again.'
God bless all.

You have captured what I have always found very compelling about
tragic events. How life, mostly mundane, continues unfettered while occupying the
same time and space as unspeakable horror. I suppose it would be classified
as a "shock" response however, the fact that people would be walking around
seemingly normal in all respects while others a few blocks away decide that being
stranded above an inferno they would take their deaths into their own hands
leaves me empty.
I suppose this comes across sounding judgmental, but this is not my
intention.

18 friends from the FDNY that day. After viewing your account of the day, I

completely different point of view, even though the outcome is the same. May God
Bless You.

As an ex-pat from the U.S. who has lived in Manhatten thank-you.
This is the kind of story and pictures that I needed to see. I wanted to know
what was happening in the rest of the city, to see the people on various
streets, to see and read an eye-witness account. Thank-you. I have both healed a
bit more and feel a bit more connected to my one-time home.

Patrick you have done an incredible job on your site and I just hope

people don't deserve to die. Take care.

Your pictures are a testiment to New Yorker's. Not only are they
calm in the face of such horror, but they put themselves out there to help
other's. Never once thinking of how they may be hurt, only thinking of how they help
those who are hurt. God Bless Them All.

later. That day is forever in my conscience. We move on but should we never allow ourselves
to forget. Such hate endangers all of us not just Americans. Canadians should
never delude themselves to think that we are immune to such danger.

I have never seen such pictures before, this really made me feel
emotionally depressed because i think of all the families that lost someone. The
picture that really got to me had to be the picture with the SUV and at the
back of it, a picture of the drivers brother, another person who is forever
gone at grond zero. I know how you feel, i wanted to push the red button too.
Thank you for sharing your emotions and pictures to us.

Great Site. Seeing the wall of hope, reminded me of watching CNN on
the evening of Thursday September 13, 2001. For the first time, individuals were being
permitted to announce people's social security numbers on television. I cried
seeing the urgency on their faces. Seeing the picture, I am crying again. We

I have constantly thought of the events of 9-11. A few of my friends
have said, it happened in the states, why do you feel the way you do. It
happened to the states yes, but we are all part of the same continent. For me, it
was no different that if it were in my city. I think of those lost and their
families often. Best wishes to you all, my heart goes out to everyone. I have a

the plane hit. For that I am eternally thankful.

" Yet this will go onward the same, though dynasties pass "
is part of a poem remembered from my high school years.
"Only a clod harrowing walks" is part of the poem, but my memory may be
wrong.
Basically, it was a poem that expressed that no matter what the 'king', or
'tyrant' or 'cataclysmic event' of the day , the mundane things would
continue.
Is there someone who can point me to the author and exact poem that still
reverberates in my mind?

Seeing your photos touched many emotions in me. They are very
powerful and yet I found it very curious to see photos of things just blocks away
that looked so normal and untouched by all the debris. You did a trmendous job

sharing! And God bless all the families of the victims as they face this first
anniversary of their tragedy. Our hearts and prayers are with them.

It was a day that the world stopped, but past the smoke, you could
see blue skies, beautiful tree's and people moving about. In a world so
beautiful, it is unbelievable that there can be such hatred. I've never been to New
York, but even after all this destruction, I will visit.... someday soon.
New York was then & still remains a very beautiful city & it's spirit cannot &
will never be broken. Thank you.

Excelent site, great example of photojournalism that works...you
might consider a career change.
- Name: Harrison Ruess (2002.09.10 23:44)
I feel that your site and your images are very professional, and
very insightful. It is a nice change to get the "average persons" view of 9/11,
as oppose to a big news station.
I personally was in NYC about a week before these tragic events took place.
The city was, and still is, an absolutely amazing place.
My continued condolences to anyone who was hurt by the events of September
11, 2001.

surviving families and friends...hope is everlasting, and good will always
prevail...therefore, let us all hope and work in goodness for World Peace...

Thanks for doing this. I was working in Missouri and recall my
incredulity at the images on CNN as I was leaving for work that morning. Needless
to say, not much got accomplished that day...
As a Canadian benefiting from being able to work in the US, I felt (and
continue to feel) strong solidarity with our American brothers in this time of
tragedy. We mourn the loss of all those innocent lives, and hope that those
responsible for this inhuman act will end up being brought to a justice.
- Name: David, from Toronto (2002.09.10 23:51)
I still, to this day, will never understand the senseless
destruction of innocent lives ruined by the blind followers of a religious zealout bent
on destruction of the United States and the rest of the free world. I cannot
imagine what the families and friends of the victims, nor those who bravely
volunteered or just did their job, have been going through from that day
forward. My heart goes out to everyone of them. And God help us all who love the
free world! Your site is excellent and poignant. Thank you!
- Name: Robyn in Ontario (2002.09.10 23:51)
My thoughts and prayers go out to all the victims and their families
of that horrible day. My gratitude goes out to those who risk their own lives

you for sharing your pictures and story with all.
